An .info file can be creatid by using any text editor, such as Notepad. To do so, simply open a new file in Notepad and paste the structure of an existing .info file from a previous recording.

Before getting started, it’s important to know that the .info file follows a specific template. This file typically contains metadata about your EEG recording. There are two main sections in the file.

Step Details

Info Version: 1.2
Step name:
StartDate (firstEEGtimestamp): 1745494372480
Device class: STARSTIM (EEG only mode)
Communication type: WiFi
Device ID: NE-Wifi(00:07:80:0D:74:72)
Software's version: NIC 2.1.3.11
Firmware's version: 4021
Operative system: Windows
SDCard Filename: NONE
Additional channel: NONE

What do you need to change?

If you are using the same device for all your recordings, you only need to modify one parameter in this group:
StartDate (firstEEGtimestamp).

How to find the correct StartDate:

- Open the .easy file of the recording that did not finish correctly.
- Locate the number you need from the file:
  - Zoom out to see more of the table — press Ctrl on your keyboard and scroll down with the mouse wheel.
  - Look at the first row and go to the last column.
  - You’ll see a large number in that cell — this is the timestamp you need to copy.
- Replace the number in the line StartDate (firstEEGtimestamp) of your .info file with this one.

Explanation of parameters

Total number of channels: The total number of data channels configured in the session, including EEG and any additional channels.

Number of EEG channels: The number of channels actively used to record EEG signals.

Number of records of EEG: The total number of EEG data points (samples) collected during the recording.

EEG sampling rate: The rate at which EEG samples were recorded, measured in samples per second (Hz). Typically 500 samples/second.

Effective EEG sampling rate: If applicable, shows the effective sampling rate after resampling or adjustments. 'N/A' means it was not altered.

EEG recording configured duration (s): The planned or configured duration of the EEG recording session, in seconds. In this case, 600 seconds (10 minutes).

Number of packets lost: Indicates how many data packets were lost during transmission or recording. A value of 0 means no data was lost.

Line filter status: Shows whether a line noise filter (e.g., 50/60 Hz notch filter) was active. 'OFF' means it wasn’t applied during acquisition.

FIR filter status: Indicates whether a Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter was applied to the EEG signals. 'OFF' means no FIR filter was used.

EOG correction filter status: Indicates if a filter was applied to remove ocular artifacts (eye movements). 'OFF' means no correction was used.

Reference filter status: Indicates whether a reference filter (used to re-reference EEG signals) was applied during recording.

EEG units: The unit used to express EEG signal amplitude. 'nV' stands for nanovolts.
EEG montage: Shows which channel is assigned to each electrode. You can get this information from your protocol.

The rest of the parameters can remain as they are.

In red are the parameters you need to change, as they are likely different from other .info files.

EEG montage: You can view this in your protocol edit screen, where the setup guide shows which channel corresponds to which electrode.

Number of records of EEG: This number is located in the last row of the .easy file. Scroll all the way down and check the final line.
